Welcome back to The Morning Hit, where we talk about what people are talking about online. The web has become the digital equivalent of the office water cooler, and it’s becoming more necessary by the day to stay in the loop.
Enough of the pleasantries, let’s hit it.
Free agency begins. The NFL free agency period starts this afternoon at 4:00, and the Browns have a ton of holes to fill. With Alex Mack opting out of his contract, Travis Benjamin reportedly signing with the San Diego Chargers, and Mitchell Schwartz set to hit the market, there’s a lot for the team to address.
Oh yeah, it could quite possibly be Johnny Manziel’s final day as a member of the Cleveland Browns (yay!).
The Browns aren’t expected to be big spenders in free agency, and that is just fine with me. I’ve been seduced by the big names of free agency before, and it NEVER works out for them. Yes, Jeff Garcia, I’m talking about you. For further evidence on why the Browns should play it cool in free agency, here are some of the worst Browns free agent acquisitions of all time.
Obama heading to South by Southwest! And skipping Nancy Reagan’s funeral! Barack Obama is scheduled to give a keynote speech at the technology conference, so he’s heading to Austin, Texas, and the First Lady will attend the funeral.
I wonder how tactical President Obama was in his delivering the message to Michelle Obama that he was going to be attending an exciting, fun, technology-filled festival in a thriving city in a warm climate while she’d be attending a funeral of a former First Lady in the middle of presidential primaries. And considering this is the second time in about a month that she’s attending the funeral of a public servant without her husband, she may not be too happy with him.
If this were “House of Cards,” the First Lady would use this as an opportunity for the government to fund a passion project of hers.
Game of Thrones Season 6! “Game of Thrones” isn’t my thing. But just about everybody else in the world loves it, so here’s the trailer for season six. Be warned, there is some NSFW language in there.
Looks like more of the same to me!
The new season premieres April 24 on HBO.
